START-UP NEEDS WIRELESS, TELCOM, YELLOW PAGE PARTNERS
By Taron Wade
Vineto, a start-up company that has developed a technology that understands HTML, is seeking early stage funding and is looking to partner with telecom companies, wireless service providers and U.S. yellow-page providers. The Bnei-brak-based company has developed a product which searches for unstructured information and is able to build a structured database, capable of searching for very specific, local information, said Tal Ornan, business development director.
Search engines can locate key words and give links, but they do not understand what those words mean on the Web pages, Ornan explained. “They cannot get information beyond the link,” he added. Vineto’s technology is able to understand the context of the Web pages, he said.
The company recently opened an office in New York and is in the process of completing a partnership deal with a major Israeli yellow-pages company. Ornan explained that the company is looking for wireless partnerships because the information will ultimately be deployed to wireless devices.
